Or you can choose from these fantastic bridal shower cards. Lucky umbrella, modern marigolds, beautiful bounquet and more unique designs.
Nothing says "thank you" like hand crafted cards made from homemade paper! And with this amazing technique, you actually make the cards with your favorite flower petals formed right into the paper. If the idea of making your own paper intimidates you, you will be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is.
The first thing you need is paper. Plain white copy paper works well, but you can choose from several alternatives depending on your needs. For thicker homemade paper, use old cards or a heavier weight stationary. For ultra fine or delicate paper, use tissue or toilet paper. If you want a built in color, start with colored print or a magazine page. You may want to experiment until you find the right combination.
Once you've selected paper, tear it into small pieces and run it through the blender with enough hot water to make a thick soup. You may need more than one cycle of this pulp to make one card. This will take trial and error and will depend somewhat on the capacity of your blender. Add the flower petals after the final spin through the blender and stir by hand; if you blend them in the machine, they'll disintegrate.
The next step requires a screen with a sturdy wood frame. Lay the screen over a tub or bucket and spread the pulp over the screen to the desired size. Don't worry about perfect edges; you can trim each bridal shower thank you card to size once it dries. Again, you may need to experiment with the right thickness, but remember to write on these cards you'll want to use thicker paper so don't be afraid to use a good amount. Remember that the thicker you lay your pulp, the longer it will take to dry.
Press the water out of the pulp and through the screen with your hand or a rolling pin. Once you've squeeze the excess water, you can help your paper dry by placing it in a sunny location or using a hair dryer. Once the paper is almost dry, carefully peel it off the screen and lay flat to cure.
Finally, it's time to add the finishing touches to each bridal shower thank you card. If you want to trim the edges straight, you can do so once the paper dries; otherwise, leave them uneven for a homemade, vintage look. Add a simple ribbon and the words "Thank You" printed on vellum to re-create the look pictured below. Use store bought envelopes from a stationary or office supply store to mail your homemade thank you cards. You may be able to find a scent to match your flower; if so, a light spritz on each card will really bring out the flower petals you've included!
Here's a final tip. If you're finding it difficult to write on your homemade cards, write your message of thanks on a simple piece of stationary or card stock trimmed smaller than the inside panel of your homemade card. Then just glue the note in place and you've got a perfect thank you note!
If you have your own style and want to show it off, these smart thank you notes will have you cheering! You've got two fabulous options for making these yourself: wall paper samples and card stock. Wall paper will give you a really cool selection of textures to choose from, whereas card stock gives virtually unlimited choice in design. While the materials may differ, the creative process is very much the same for each.
First cut out each bridal shower thank you card from cardstock. Although you can use any color or design you like, it's best to stick to something basic if you're going for vibrant or bold patterns like those pictured below. White or cream cardstock will go with almost anything.
To make the envelope, start by drawing a basic rectangle that matches the shape of your thank you notes, but make it just a touch larger so the notes will fit. If your folded cards are thick, remember to take that into consideration and allow extra space. Next draw a triangular shaped flap at the top – like the roof on a house – and matching pieces on each side. Finally, draw the bottom flap so all of these additions will fold over and cover the card completely to make a clever homemade envelope. Cut out the design and use it as a template for the remaining envelopes. Tape or glue the edges together, slip in your card, and mail!
A final tip: you may need to add a white mailing label if your envelopes feature a dark print. Make sure you glue it on if you're using wallpaper since it may not stick well. You want to make sure the address is legible and firmly attached so your happy notes of thanks all reach the recipients in good time!
Once you discover how easy it is to make your own bridal shower thank you card, you'll never go back to store bought cards again. Now that is a phenomenal way to share your thanks!
