Funny Wedding Invitations
"Finally a section with so many 'CREATIVE'
printable wedding invitations!"
Funny wedding invitations are not only great to send - they're also exciting for guests to receive! Here are four fabulous designs you can make yourself.
A Premier Event
These movie theater printable wedding invitations are real show stoppers!
Grab your sweetie and snuggle up at your favorite theater to re-create a homemade wedding invitation that puts you on the silver screen.
Here's how...
The first thing you need to do is head to a theater with someone who can take your picture. You might be able to talk a theater manager about using a room for a few minutes.
If not, buy tickets and plan to arrive early or stay after the show is over until the room clears out.
If you can't achieve the darkened room effect, you can still use the design by putting black lettering over a white screen.
Once you have a photo, upload it to your computer. Use a photo processing website or program to add favorite quotes from your relationship or meaningful quips from friends and family. Use different fonts for emphasis, but save the flowing script for the poignant "Will you marry me" and, of course, the "Yes!" After each quote, attach the name of the person who said it.
Can't think of what to include? Consider some of these examples:
"I think she's the one!"
"I've never seen you so happy."
"He brings out the light in your eyes."
"I love you … and your cat."
Once you've dotted the big screen with quotes, add the "You are invited" and the date in the corner by using the same process. Print copies to attach to the front of your printable wedding invitations. Fill the inside of the card with the event details, and you've created a truly unique wedding invitation!
Here are more funky wedding invitations that you can use as examples.
Retro Library Card Invitations
This light, breezy printable wedding invitation has a delightfully retro feel about it, as library cards have largely gone the way of the dinosaurs. These funny wedding invitations are guaranteed eye-catchers, and they're so easy to make!
Start the process on your computer.
Once you know the size of your invitations (commonly 5x7" or 4x6") you can create a table in your word processing program. (Alternately, draw the lines on the finished product with a dark pen and a ruler, and then simply make copies onto card stock.)
Use a bold courier or similarly-styled font to create the old typewriter effect.
Center the text as you see it in the sample on the left, using a large and bold character size for the best effect. When you get to bottom, align "RSVP BY:" to the left and leave room for the stamp. Go back to center alignment for the bottom and use all caps to add the finishing touch.
To make the date stamp, you can use your word processing program if you're familiar with the more advanced features. If not, you can print the invitation on cardstock and literally stamp it with the style of stamp that is sold in office supply stores.
Once the card has been printed, add the lines if you have not already done so. When you have one complete invitation, make a copy for each guest and your funny wedding invitations are ready to be mailed!
We Just Clicked
If your office romance has blossomed into happily ever after or your home is filled with the pitter patter of little keyboards, then this is one of the funniest homemade wedding invitation ideas for you! Here's how to create one of your own.
The first thing you'll need to do is find a large photo of a keyboard.
If you can't find one, take pictures of your own and crop out the individual keys that you'll need to use. You'll also need to find a photo of a key or take one of your own. Upload your collection of pictures to your computer and you'll be ready to get started.
Begin with a blank background for your invitation. Add a shaded box to the top and use a script font to add the text. The "insert photo" function will allow you to place the keyboard clips in the wording. You can copy the example or create your own wording for a perfectly personalized invitation.
To complete these funny wedding invitations, print the design to attach to the front of folded card stock. Fill in the details on the inside and it's time to point and click your way to delivery!
The Traditional Approach
Here's a classic homemade wedding invitation idea that marries tradition with humor. It's a great choice for a more conventional couple with a sense of fun!
Start with cardstock.
The example on the left features two pieces for the layered effect. To accomplish this, first cut the smaller shape out and then lay in on the second piece. Trace around it and trim it about 1/8 of an inch away from the original edge. When you place the smaller invitation on top of the larger one, you'll see the highlighted appearance.
The next step might be the hardest one. You'll need to come up with something clever and witty to say about your pending marriage.
If you're not feeling particularly creative, there's one angle that will always elicit a laugh the gender wars!
The groom can vow to pick up his underwear, put his dirty dishes in the sink, and kick his buddies out by 9 o'clock each night. The bride can promise to clean the house, cook the food, and not spend all of their money shopping. When you play with the gender stereotypes, you'll have an uproariously funny wedding invitation every time!
You can get many inspirations from these funny invitaiton poems and wording examples.
Once you've chosen the wording, very carefully print it onto the card.
An alternative is to print the wording onto paper or vellum and affix it separately to the cards.
If you have several cards to make, you might want to buy pre-cut cardstock or choose a design that is easier to cut out than the one you see pictured!
