My Three Wedding Photography Rules
by Charles Sturkey Sr.

After over forty years of photographing weddings, I have three very important tip to pass on. Meet the bride and the groom, before the wedding. Second, attend the rehearsal. Always, if in doubt, ask.
My second wedding job, she was a platinum blond with fair skin. The groom was black with very dark skin. I discovered this about ten minutes before the ceremony. I was using 35 mm and a hand held light meter.
There are times when the rehearsal is in one language and the ceremony in another. Ask, if in doubt.
Attempt to find out the family relationships, before you place two people together for a shot. This way, you will not be the cause of a fist fight between two people that hate each other. Again, ask if in doubt.
I no longer do weddings. I am at an age where I sit around and swap wedding horror stories with other old photographers.
